The Madill softball team took the early 4-0 lead on the Wampuscats and eventually defeated Atoka 7-4 on Thursay. Maryn Mancini and Laila Pickens each went 3-for-4 at the plate in the winning effort. Peyton Arnold was 2-for-3 including a triple with an RBI. She also went seven innings in the circle, gave up just four hits and struck out five Atoka batters. Zeplyn Thomas, Brooklyn Washington, Pickens and Ireland Groeber drove in a run apiece.
In the game against Durant, Madill scored four runs in the third frame, three runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth in coasting to a 9-1 victory over the Lions. Dahlia Marris was 3-for-4 from the plate, drove home three runs and scored two of her own. Groeber, Ireland and Mancini chipped in two RBI each. Andie Wallace had a hit and scored once. Mancini pitched five innings and fanned seven Durant batters for the triumph. Madill is set to host Marieta tomorrow (Sept. 10) at 11 a.m. on Tom Reynolds Field.
