Girls Earned Regional Runner-Up Title in Track Meet at Madill Saturday

The Madill girls earned the regional runner-up title as a team Saturday at Blake Smiley Stadium for the Class 4A regional meet. They only were eclipsed by Tuttle in the final standings of the day. Several Madill girls and boys qualified for the state meet through Saturday’s regional. The Class 4A state meet is set for Catoosa May 6-7.

“We're very proud of the girls and how they performed to earn regional runner up this year, especially on our home track. The boys did well in a tough region with qualifiers that will represent well at Catoosa,” Madill track head coach Cale Eidson said following Saturday’s performance.

Madill freshman Kaytleigh Davis grabbed gold in the girls 200-meter dash in a time of 25.8 seconds. Jorge Martinez won gold in the boys shot put with a toss of 47-03.75.

River Shaw was second in the shot put. Freshman Eli Vinson was second in the boys pole vault. Isabel Sanchez was second in the 3200-meter run run. Korlee Cunningham-Martin took second in the 800-meter run. The Lady Wildcats were second in the 800-meter relay with Lexus Spanhanks, Joslyn Stumblingbear, Hannah Elkins and Davis and the 1600-meter relay with Davis, Stumblingbear, Elkins and Cunningham-Martin. Madill girls were third in the 400-meter relay with Davis, Stumblingbear, Elkins and Spanhanks and third in the 3200-meter relay with Esperanza Hernandez, Cunningham-Martin, Carol Moreno and Sanchez. The top three in each event qualify for state with the possibility of others depending on times and distances of other regional sites.
