Madill junior Eli Vinson vaulted his way to the Class 4A individual state championship in the boys pole vault Friday in Catoosa. His mark was 13-6. He grabbed the gold based on clearing the bar on every attempt. Fellow Wildcat Christian Robledo finished fourth in the same event. Madill’s Triston Barnes secured sixth in that same event. Vinson’s state title signals the first time a Madill High School performer has won an individual state championship since the Madill boys 4x400 relay team of Asa Roberston, Costa Chambers, Dylan Parnacher and Trevor Goff were crowned champs in 2018. Brandon Serrano also was part of that ‘Cats’ relay squad in that season. Vinson’s was the first state championship won by an individual person since Miranda Nolen won the 3200m run in 2014. Vinson’s gold is the 67th individual track event state title.

The Madill boys 4x800 relay team of Ryder Douglas, Jose Campos, Ben Hernandez, and Mayur Patel finished fifth Friday.

Luciana Douglass placed eighth in the girls long jump.

Yadira Barbosa was 10th in the 3200m run. Tyce Pruitt was 10th in the discus and the boys 4x400 relay was 12th. Codie Shaw was 15th in the 100m hurdles.
